Hi,

I have gravel in one of my notho-tanks an I have not seen any problems yet. For getting eggs I use kokos-grain with 1/4 of peat in special little tanks.

Best regards

Hi Jan,
I use fine sand, but in a very flat layer, only to cover the bare glass. Plants which need a higher level of sand are placed in flowerpots.

For the peat I use jam-glasses or plastic boxes.

Hello Jan and Gunter;
I\'ve never given any though to what should be on the bottom of a nothobranchius tanks. Absolutely anything reasonable will be fine. If you want to breen them then you have to decide if you want to take the parents out and put them in a special breeding tank or you want to breed them continuously; If the latter is true, putting a glass divider in an aquarium about halfway up, will allow you to have peatmoss at the back yet be easily able to siphon off dirt from the bare front half - hopefully the fish will have enough sense, taste and style to crap in this half and not where it\'s uh, procreating.
