Announcement of the 40th International Killifish Show
of German Killifish Association (DKG) May 13 to 16, 2010
Franken-Akademie
Schloßplatz 8
D-96215 Lichtenfels-Schney
The participation in this show is not bound to a DKG membership; non-members are equally invited to send their fishes. Under the conditions listed below, everybody can participate in the show.
Only killifish are allowed to be sent in. Offspring from crossings of different species (hybrids) must not be exposed.
Either pairs (1 male and 1 female, in case of hermaphrodites two specimens) of breeding groups (three pairs or two males and four females) can be exposed.
In case more specimens are sent in, only the best pair, respectively the best breeding group will be judged.
By sending fishes to the show, they automatically become property of the DKG. All shown fishes will be auctioned during the last day of DKG Convention to the benefit of the DKG.
The financial result of the auction serves for funding the costs of the Killifish Show.
The fishes will be kept in plastic tanks with a volume of about 10 litres (2.6 US Gallons). The water values are nearly 6,3 German hardness, 4,9 Carbonate hardness and pH 8,1. If fishes are sent in which have been kept in water with added salt, this has to be clearly stated on the transportation container (remarks to be used: salt, low pH, value).
Fishes for the show have to be announced not later than Friday, 7.05.2010 by letter or e-mail to:

Announced fishes for the show can also be deposited not later than thursday, May 13, 2010, 14.00 at the Convention. There is no guarantee that fishes arriving beyond this point of time will be judged.
Please pack the fishes generously. We will try to put all fishes into the show tanks as quickly as possible, but in case of numerous show fishes this might take some time.
The transportation containers (plastic bags, etc.) must show the following data:
Genus, species and – should the
occasion arise – subspecies and population / location,
the full name of the sender and the name of the killifish association
he is member of, respectively his DKG membership number.
Please write clearly and use a water resistant marker!
The fishes will be classified for judgement in 15 groups:
The breeding groups will be integrated into the above mentioned 15 groups.
In these groups, two judges will give points for the exposed fishes.
Between 1 and maximally 10 points will be given. In case the conditions mentioned above are not fulfilled (for instance numer of males / females), no judgement will be done (k. B. = keine Bewertung = no assessment). Among those fishes with the highest number of points, the first three places and the best breeding group will be defined.
The judges´ decisions are incontestable!
The three best pairs of adult specimens as well as the best breeding group of each show group will receive a diploma and an award.
Special awards are as follows:
Awards of foreign Killifish Associations should be announced in advance.
Each killifish breeder participating in the show receives a free show list.
On the base of the DKG-by-laws, trading with fishes, peat with eggs and accessories inside the Convention rooms is not allowed.
